Soay

Despite the fact that it is actually snowing outside (albeit lightly) I’m most definitely in a Spring frame of mind! In anticipation of warmer days I’ve been working on a new cardi design.

This is Soay (named after an island in the inner Hebrides of Scotland and the sheep that come from there). Another seamless, short row sleeve cap construction, along the lines of Audrey in Unst. The pretty flower lace pattern reminded me of the Spring bulbs that we all long to see once February is over. No sight of them here yet as the snow still blankets most of the ground in our neck of the woods but I know there are some Daffodils out there underneath the crust!

The yarn is Chicakdee in “Honey” from Quince and Co. I used this exact same yarn and colour for my Mirry Dancer legwarmers and knew I had to use it again in a garment. The yarn is so incredibly soft, with great stitch definition. Pure joy to work with.

I’m modeling a size 34 1/2 with about 1 1/2 inches of negative ease at the bust. This sample used approx 5 skeins of chickadee, which at $5.75 a skein makes it very economical!

The pattern is in the works and will be with you in a few weeks.
